Hunt at Lovewell Ringneck Roost

Field Hunts and Accommodations

Now offering guided upland pheasant and quail hunts for the upcoming 2024 Season Nov. 9, 2024 - Jan. 31, 2025 


  •  We offer both half-day, full-day, and multi-day hunts. We can accommodate groups of up to 10 hunters. We suggest a minimum of 4 hunters. 6-8 hunters are generally the ideal size for our groups. 
  • Our guides can provide flushing and retrieving dogs for the hunt, or you are welcome and encouraged to bring your own! We love to see the dogs work. 
  • Hunters will have access to private land on a family farming operation with wild and supplemented birds. Hunts will feature a variety of terrain from natural habitats, food plots, fields, pastures, or timber and can be tailored to whatever experience level or degree of difficulty you desire. 
  • Lodging with Airbnb options right next to Lovewell Reservoir within 6 miles of the hunt and hotel options in nearby towns Superior, NE, and Mankato or Belleville, KS.

Hunts take place on a multi-generational working family farming and ranching operation. My father started guiding wild bird hunts nearly 35 years ago. We continue to carry on the tradition of upland hunting and the great memories it has provided our clients and families. 


Our farm is located 4 miles east of Lovewell Lake and is nestled at the base of the hills surrounded by tall grass prairie, crop fields, and timber. Who said all of Kansas had to be flat? 


We strive to give you an action-packed upland experience with plenty of trigger time from our supplemented pheasant hunts, and an opportunity to chase our natural quail coveys.


We look forward to providing you and your friends, family, or business associates with an unforgettable hunt, lots of birds, and even more memories.

Half-Day Upland Hunt


Morning 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or

Afternoon 1 p.m.-4 p.m. 


Includes guide, dogs, and bird cleaning/packaging with an opportunity to bag up to 4 pheasants. 

$250 per gun.



Full-Day Upland Hunt


Includes guide, dogs, and bird cleaning/packaging. With an opportunity to bag up to 4 pheasants and up to 8 quail. 

$350 per gun.

  • Hunting clothing- according to the weather forecast
  • Shotgun- 12, 16, 20, or 28 gauge are most popular for pheasant and quail
  • Choke improved or modified
  • Ammunition- 2 boxes #5 or #6 high-velocity lead shot is most common
  • Blaze Orange- minimum of a cap and vest for your safety
  • Protective eyewear- prescription glasses or shooting glasses required
  • Hearing protection
  • Cooler to take home gamebirds

Dogs

Recommended Gear

We utilize Yellow Labs for flushing and retrieving. Our dogs have experience hunting alongside pointing breeds. 


You are welcome to bring and hunt with your own dogs or alongside ours. Our hunts provide a great opportunity to train a young dog or even give an experienced dog a challenge. All are welcome and we mean it. Watching the dogs work and retrieve is part of the upland experience!
